Adjudication Collector Zafar Akhtar declares seizure of non-customs paid V-8 legal

LAHORE: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication declared it as legal the confiscation of white Land Cruiser V-8 seized by the Customs Investigation and Intelligence Lahore.

The vehicle was confiscated by the Customs I&I while plying in the Defence area of Lahore. According to the Customs I&I sources, the customs authorities intercepted the vehicle. The driver introduced himself as Sheraz Mufti son of Mufti Mazhar, a resident of Sultanpura, Lahore, but he failed to produce registration and any other document showing legal procession. The authorities took the vehicle into their custody in the name of the state.

Customs Adjudication Collector Zafar Akhtar while giving his verdict on the cases said that he examined the case record and heard the oral arguments put forth by the detecting agency, the respondent neither responded to the show cause notice nor do they appear to defend their case.

He said that that the charges leveled against the accused party in the show-cause stands established and consequently he ordered the seizure o f Toyota Land Cruiser’s confiscation as legal.
