Adjudication-I Collector Abdul Basit going on one year leave from May 1

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I Collector Abdul Basit Chaudhary is going on a year-long leave from May 1, 2016 to April 30, 2016, while adjudication-II Collector Javed Chaudhary will look after the matters in his absence.

Abdul Basit Chaudhry, an officer of BS-20 in Pakistan Customs Services (PCS), took charge at the Customs Adjudication-I in January 2016 and replaced the then collector Wasif Memon.

During his tenure, he decided a plenty of cases and issued nearly 100 show-cause notices to respondents to present themselves before the adjudicating authority with their viewpoints. The collector issued around 35 Order-in-Originals (ONOs) involving millions of rupees by settling cases of tax evasion, mis-declaration, under-invoicing and violation of different SROs.

It may be mentioned here that Javed Chaudhary, collector of the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-II, will be given additional charge of adjudication-I in the absence of Abdul Basit Chaudhary.
