Adjudication-I issues notice to M/s Zakir Medical Accessories due to tax evasion

KARACHI: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I has issued a final notice to M/s Zakir Medical Accessories for allegedly evading duty and taxes of Rs 2.11 million.

According to the final notice, the defaulter company, in active connivance with their clearing agents M/s Qurban Wahid Shipping imported three consignments of different medical use items under Pakistan Custom Tariff Heading 9055.2302 and cleared the subject goods at lower values than the values determined vide valuation database letter issued by Directorate General Customs Valuation on September 2015.

It was observed that the importer intentionally and deliberately got the subject goods cleared at lower values and deprived the government exchequer of its legitimate revenue.

It was evident that M/s Zakir Medical Accessories willfully and intentionally got their consignments cleared at lower values and evaded duty / taxes to the tune of Rs2.11 million.

It is necessary to mention here that Customs Adjudication I already sent show cause notice to this company before two weeks ago but the defaulter company failed to reply.
