KARACHI: Customs Adjudication-I on Wednesday recovered Rs8.55 million from M/s Rohail Steel Works, and served a final notice on a defaulter company M/s J K Associates, Karachi.
Sources told Customs Today that M/s Rohail Steel Works got cleared a consignment of steel sheets, parts of dumping pressure machines, and steel scrape on February 11, 2017 and evaded tax amount of Rs8.55 million.
After the investigation, the Customs Adjudication-I served a show cause notice on the company on 2nd May, 2018 but it failed to clear the outstanding tax amount.
The collector Customs Adjudication-I issued a final notice to the company on 28 May, 2018. After receiving the notice, the company deposited Rs8.55 million in favor of the Customs Department.
Another Company M/s J K Associates, Karachi, was allegedly involved in tax evasion. The company imported kids garments and T-shirts from Dubai on December 15, 2017 by the examiner Safdar Abbas and used the wrong PCT heading.
After scrutinizing import data, the Customs Adjudication-I issued a final notice to the company on 5th June 2018. According to final notice, defaulter company was directed to clear the outstanding amount of Rs7.22 million within 14 days to avoid stern action.
