Adjudication-I recovers Rs8.59m from M/s Mas Traders

KARACHI: Customs Adjudication-I issued recovery and final notice to two defaulter companies and recovered Rs 8.59 million from M/s Max Traders.

Sources told Customs Today that defaulter company M/s Max Traders got cleared a consignment of electronics accessories including drill machines, parts of drill machines, LED TVs, picture tubes and other items on February 13, 2018 and evaded a tax amount of Rs8.59 million.

After the scrutiny, the Collector Customs Adjudication-I Shazia Qureshi served a show cause notice to the company on 27th April, but it failed to clear the outstanding tax amount and requested time to clear the outstanding dues.

After one month, the collector Customs Adjudication-I issued a final notice to the company on 28th May, 2018. After receiving the notice, the company deposited Rs 8.59 million in favor of the Customs Department on 14th June, 2018.

Another Company M/s Pak Zari Works & Export was also allegedly involved in tax evasion. The company imported various kinds of thaan (cotton) consignment on December, 29, 2017. The consignment was cleared by the examiner Muneer A. Khan by using the wrong PCT heading.

After scrutinizing import data, the Customs Adjudication-I issued a final notice to the company on 15th June 2018, according to final notice defaulter company is directed to clear the outstanding amount of Rs 10.50 million within 14 days to avoid stern action.
