KARACHI: The Digicom (Pvt) Limited and New Allied Electronics (Pvt) Limited, the authorised dealers of Q-Mobile, have submitted their written reply in Rs 772 million tax evasion case during import of cellular phones without paying additional sales tax and customs duty.

Sources informed Customs Today that departmental representative of Q-Mobile Afzal Ahmed Bhatti in the written reply asked for the adjournment of the next hearing for two months. However, the adjudication authorities turned down the request.

Sources added that the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I has fixed the next hearing for November 13.

The collectorate had previously given September 22, October 13 and October 27 dates for the hearing. However, New Allied Electronics owner Mian Pervez and Director (Operations) Sarfarazuddin appeared before the authorities concerned had sought adjournment of the hearing.

The collectorate had served show-cause notices on New Allied Electronics and Digicom Pvt (Limited) in September for their involvement in the tax evasion.
