KARACHI: Drivers have expressed concerns over charging of money from the vehicles, which enter the city from the Karachi Port.
The drivers of the goods vehicles claim that the city administration has started collecting Rs 20 per vehicle on entry points of the city. “The administration says that a tax is being charged for using the city roads and disturbing the traffic,” they claimed.
On the other hand, the city administration claimed that they have not started any tax recovery from the Karachi Port vehicles. However, one of the officials, on anonymity, said that the city administration has decided to charge the vehicles but have not yet started the process. He further said that the city administration has nothing to do with those who are charging the drivers. He also declared the step illegal.
