KABUL: An Afghan national was intercepted by customs officials at Hamid Karzai International Airport for trying to smuggle gold worth Rs5.5 million into country from Dubai.
On detailed examination of his baggage and personal search, twenty gold bars in total weighing 2.3 kilograms were recovered from him, a press release issued by customs said.
The total value of the gold is assessed to be Rs5.49 million. The passenger has been arrested, it said.
