Surveillance of Afghan Transit Trade cargo enhanced on borders

KARACHI: With continued request by the Pakistan Customs to Afghan Customs for deployment of more staff at borders, the Afghan Customs has finally agreed to depute more staff and keep strict vigilance of transit trade cargo.

According to sources, the Afghan Customs officials held a meeting with Pakistan Customs recently in which it was agreed to deploy more staff and resources and hold regular meetings with Pakistan Customs to review its progress and contain menace of cross-border smuggling etc.

It was also agreed that hard copies of the T-1 certificates uploaded online in the WeBOC system by Afghan Customs shall not be required by Pakistan Customs.

The Afghan side’s request for change in destination of transit cargo from Torkham to Chaman and vice versa, filed by the Afghan traders was also agreed by Pakistan Customs.
