KABUL: The Ministry of Finance said more than 122 billion afghanis has been collected in national revenue, eight million afs more than the target the IMF set for Afghanistan, during the Afghan solar year that ended on Saturday.
The International Monetary Fund had set 114 billion afs revenue target for the Ministry of Finance, but the collections surpassed the target, MoF spokesman Ajmal Hamid Abdul Rahimzai told a press conference.
When compared to the previous year’s income, he said, the outgoing year’s returns showed a 22 percent increase.
Afghanistan could get more concessions from the IMF with the increase in revenue, he said, adding that in the outgoing year, Afghanistan obtained $91 million privilege from the IMF, which would be spent on prioritised projects in the financial year of 2016.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Rehabilitation and Rural Development (MRRD) spokesman Akbar Rustami said they had executed 13,800 development projects in 34 provinces of the country during the outgoing solar year.
His ministry had prepared a two-phase plan for the next year aimed at creating jobs in remote areas. In the first phase, he said, short term work opportunities would be provided to 235,000 people and in the second phase to 375,000 people, he said.
Education Ministry spokesman Mujib Meherdad said they established nearly 195 educational centres and upgraded 263 primary schools to middle and high schools and implemented 647 construction projects across the country in the past one year.
He said 970,000 small children including 39 percent of them girls were admitted in schools in the past one year, when nearly 341,000 including 33 percent of them females got graduation certificates on different levels.
