LAHORE: The Kisan Ittehad has called off its protest in favour of their demands after a meeting with Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
An Ittehad delegation led by Khalid Khokhar called on Shahbaz here in the provincial capital. The chief minister assured the visitors that the subsidy tariff would continue on farm tubewells, while complete payment of farmers dues by the sugar mills would be ensured within seven days.
He said the price of seed for wheat crop would also be reduced and rates of rice and cotton would be stabilised through government purchase.Saying a two-day agriculture conference would be held in December, the CM asked the farmers to present concrete proposals for the development of the sector in the moot.
