AIB-Customs Appraisement-West to scrutinize import data

KARACHI: The Appraising Intelligence Branch (AIB) of the Customs  Appraisement (West) has decided to scrutinize the import data which was being cleared under SRO450, SRO455 and SRO650, it is learnt here.

The sources informed Customs Today that the Collector- Appraisement (West) Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi has directed the AIB to scrutinize the import data of the last one year under SRO450, SRO455 and SRO650 in order to check the veracity of the cleared consignments.

The sources further informed that the Collector Appraisement (West) has got some information that some irregularities have been occurred during the import consignments under those aforesaid SROs.

The AIB authorities would start to scrutinize the complete data of the importers for last one year who were cleared their consignments by availing SRO450, SRO455 and SRO650.

The sources further revealed that the AIB authorities concerned would check the veracity of the cleared consignments in term of applying accurate per centage of customs duty (CD), income tax (IT) and sales tax (ST).

Responding to a query, the sources further said that the said practice is being conducted to ensure clearance of the consignments at accurate taxable ratio.

The sources further said that there would be a certain possibility that misappropriation would be found during the scrutiny of the imported consignments under SRO450, SRO455 and SRO650 for last one year.
