KARACHI: The Appraisement of Intelligence Bureau (AIB) of the Model Customs Collectorate of Appraisement-West has failed to recover three smuggled vehicles out of total seven, passing two month since start of case.
According to the details, the AIB of MCC Appraisement-West had recovered four smuggled vehicles of Mercedes Benz C-200, Model 2008 out of seven which were imported on fake letter of Ministry of Commerce. However; three smuggled vehicles of different models yet to be recovered by the Pakistan Customs.
It is pertinent to mention here that the case of smuggled vehicles was unearthed in the month of May, 2014 and after passing two months, Pakistan Customs still fail to produce the remaining vehicles.
Although, Pakistan Customs have arrested the accused namely, Muhammad Azam, import manager of M/s Trade Line International and served a notice under section 171 of the Custom Act, 1969 upon him yet unable to recover remaining 3 vehicles from him.
A source from AIB admitted that the Pakistan Customs has not yet followed the said case due to the load of work, adding that the authorities would recover the remaining three vehicles after July, 2014.
Moreover, it is said that imported smuggled vehicles were in the use of the management of an influential and famous construction company and collective decision may be expected for recovery of remaining smuggled vehicles by the end of this month.
