AIB starts scrutinizing consignments of ‘acrylic—plastic sheets’ cleared during 2016

KARACHI: The Appraising Intelligence Branch (AIB) of the Model Customs Collectorate Appraisement (West) has started to evaluate and investigate the cleared consignments of acrylic—plastic sheets during 2016.

Sources informed Customs Today that the AIB, on the directives of Collector-MCC Appraisement (West) Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi, has started scrutinizing the cleared data of “acrylic—-plastic sheets’ consignments. The entire work will be completed in 15 days.

Responding to a query, the sources disclosed that the AIB authorities, after detecting the duty/taxes evasion if any into the cleared consignments, would send show-cause notices to the accused parties.

It may be mentioned here that the AIB has recently detected a tax evasion of Rs 4.8 million over misusing the SRO478 and also registered an FIR against the importers and clearing agent.
