PARIS: Air France-KLM returned to profit in 2015 and reported increased revenues, mainly due to positive currency effects and lower fuel prices, the Franco-Dutch airline announced on Thursday.

Net profit amounted to 118 million euros (131 million U.S. dollars), compared to a net loss of 225 million euros in 2014. Revenues grew by 4.6 percent from 24.912 billion euros in 2014 to 26.059 billion in 2015.

Revenues in 2014 were strongly affected by the pilot strike at Air France in September that year. Corrected for this strike, 2015 revenues increased 2.5 percent mainly as a result of a strong currency tailwind.

“We are very pleased to post positive results and a reduced net debt for the group in 2015, reflecting the efforts of all the staff and the loyalty of our clients,” said Air France-KLM CEO Alexandre de Juniac.

“In spite of the favorable environment created by lower fuel prices, we confirm our ambition to improve our competitiveness within an economic and geopolitical context that remains very uncertain,” he added.
