Lahore: Air Freight Unit customs duty collection up 47pc during 10 months

LAHORE: Allama Iqbal International Lahore Air Freight Unit (AFU) has collected an additional Rs 1,825 million customs duty, up 47 percent from import of various goods and articles from July to May 2014-15, official data revealed.

The customs AFU collected Rs 5,794 million against Rs 4,071 million during the same period of the corresponding financial year 2013-14, according to the data.

The Customs AFU has also not only beaten the target of 5300 million but also exceed it by 9 percent which is 400 million, the official data said.

The major goods and articles which are imported at the AFU included computer and mobile accessories.

The sources further said that in order to hit the target positively the Collector of Customs Preventive Mukarram Jah Ansari has held meeting with the AFU and instructed them accordingly.
