MIRPUR: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir government decided to further encourage livestock sector to meet the milk and meat production targets.
According to the official sources, the state government will take every possible measure and extend assistance to the private sector to make investments in the dairy, poultry and vegetable sectors in the area.
It may be added that milk and yoghurt are being sold at the rate of Rs90/- and Rs100/- per litre respectively in the local market against the rates fixed by the local administrations in all district and tehsil headquarters in AJK.
The official, while talking to the state-owned news agency, said that provision of latest equipment for the promotion and progress of dairy, poultry and vegetable farms and to get the power tariff reduced in AJK at par with Pakistan, are the foremost priorities of the AJK government.
The government official said that bright prospects are available for the intending investors for establishment of the farms for production of dairy, poultry, fish and vegetable produces in the area.
He said that the recent advent of fish, poultry and vegetable farms over one hundred kanal of land in Mirpur Azad Jammu Kashmir has provided job opportunities to hundreds of the jobless youths but also to overcome the shortage of milk and meat to considerable extent in the area.
The farm to market roads, provision of sufficient water and electricity are the priorities of the government for the uplift of this sector.
The official revealed that the daily production of over 3,500 litre milk and fresh vegetables worth thousands of rupees from the first latest private-sector farm speaks of the availability of bright potentials for the promotion of this sector through private entrepreneurs and investors in Azad Jammu Kashmir.
