Al-Batha Customs foils two attempts to smuggle 54,000 bags of “Tanbak”

RIYADH: Al-Batha customs succeeded in thwarting two attempts to smuggle a quantity of “tinbak” amounting to 54,000 fifty-four thousand bags, all of which were hidden within the consignments received for Customs. This was explained by Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Mahna, Director General of Al Batha Customs and said: The attempt to smuggle this quantity of “Tanbak” has been thwarted through two attempts to smuggle it. On the other hand, Al-Mahna said: “I submitted to the Customs for the purpose of crossing through the Kingdom’s territory to a neighboring country, carrying a truck with 24 head of camels, and by searching it I found 36.000 thirty-six bags of tinpack hidden on the floor of the truck, The camels were placed above them. The Director General of Batha Customs said that the purpose of smuggling these quantities of “tennak” is for the purpose of evading customs duties imposed on such types of goods.
