Alabama central school hall of Fame Ceremony to honor 4 alumni on Oct. 24

ALABAMA:The 2015 Oakfield-Alabama Central School Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will honor four alumni on Oct. 24. The inductees are Shannon Hilchey Ph.D., Alvin Scroger, Alan Sumeriski and Rachel Yousey Raba. View all 9 images in gallery.The tickets requested through Liz Conway will be available “will-call” the night of the event. Check should be made payable to Dollars for Scholars with Hall of Fame written on the memo line.

The Oakfield-Alabama Hall of Fame exists to honor outstanding alumni for their achievements as adults. Equally important, it provides examples for current and future students, showing them the types of achievements that are possible if they apply the excellent educational foundation they acquire at OACS. It is the school’s highest honor for its graduates.Alan Sumeriski (Class of 1986) has carved his own successful path working for the federal government in the area of land management, specifically within Department of Interior, National Park Service.

Sumeriski, currently a resident of Sevierville, Tenn., is the chief of facility management, planning and professional services at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park which draws more than 10 million visitors a year. Some of his responsibilities are management of park operations to include facility management, planning, design, construction/project management and financial oversight of a $25 million budget.

The facility management division has more than 200 employees.Great Smoky Mountains National Park’s asset portfolio reflects one of the largest collections in the National Park Service with more than 1,900 assets. As a senior manager, Sumeriski provides leadership and oversight for 441 buildings (91 historic structures); 10 campgrounds; cemeteries; nine picnic areas; 384 miles of roads and six tunnels; 800 miles of hiking trails; nine telecommunication repeater sites and maintaining equipment/vehicle fleet.
