ALABAMA: Alabama lawmakers third public hearing held statewide with the newly formed Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Study Commission, chaired by Rep. Alan Harper, R Northport, and Sen. Paul Sanford, R Huntsville.
Alabama lawmakers gathered in Huntsville on to hear from brewers, winemakers, consumers and concerned citizens about alcohol laws related to the state’s three tier system and licensing.
The commission, which will visit Colorado and North Carolina in September to examine their laws, expects to deliver a draft of proposed legislation with findings to the House and Senate in a few months.
The commission was created in late April, shortly before a bill to allow Alabama craft brewers to sell beer to go in portable containers, also known as growlers, died in the Legislature without a vote.
