MOSCOW: In a joint press conference, the Premier of Albania and Kosovar agreed on a deal to enhance customs cooperation between two nations.
The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, said that the two countries aim to take steps to form a customs union.
Kosovar Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, began his first official visit to Albania only days before the cabinets of the two countries will hold a joint meeting for strategic cooperation.
Both countries’ premier said that Albania and Kosovo have achieved good results in cooperation in education and culture.
The two countries seek to unify education curricula and cultural policies.
Mustafa said that Kosovo and Albania will now increase their efforts to boost economic ties and trade relations.
“We consider that we have great possibilities for cooperation in energy and infrastructure, fields in which we will join also with others states in the region,” Mustafa said.
“We intend that documents recognized on one side of the border will be recognized automatically also on the other side, and that entrepreneurs will not lose more than five minutes when crossing borders,” Rama said.
Albanian and Kosovar governments held the first joint meeting in Prizren city, Kosovo on Jan. 11 2014, while the second one will be held in Tirana, Albania on March 23, 2015.
Kosovo and Albania are two Balkan countries, each with more than 90 per cent of the population Albanians.
Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia on Feb. 17, 2008, and 108 states have already recognized Kosovo. Belgrade refuses to recognize it, however.
