WASHINGTON: Albania saw a massive growth of 22% for its agricultural exports in 2016. Experts in the industry have noted that reasons for the rise included government initiatives and the increasing prices of produce.
Agricultural experts told local media, Saturday, that such growth was supported by new investment in improving agricultural infrastructure and the growing government subsidy schemes for farmers. Exports of fruits and vegetables have given an impetus to the export figures, almost doubling in value against other products. Albanian agriculture exports are dominated by vegetables, but also early season vegetables grown in greenhouses, said the experts.
