DURRES: Albania’s largest sea port of Durres handled 3.4 million tonnes of cargo in the January-November period, up 7% year-on-year, the port authority said.
Cargo exports increased by 16% on the year to 1.242 million tonnes in the period under review, the port authority said in a press release. Cargo imports grew by 3% to 2.157 million tonnes.
Cargo ships carried 2.648 million tonnes of goods to and from Durres, up 7% year-on-year, while ferries transported 751.364 tonnes of cargo in the 11 months, up from 674,000 tonnes during the same period in 2016.
A total of 518 commercial vessels were handled by goods terminals, while 992 ferries were processed at the ferry terminal, which besides passengers also transports goods by trucks and trains, the port authority said.
