Alert against misdeclaration of consumer items issued

KARACHI: Customs Appraisement West has issued assessment alert against misdeclaration of consumer items and directed officials to careful in clearance of goods.

In the alert issued by the collectorate, stated that it had received information about some unscrupulous importers were importing the complete consumer items like remote controls classifiable under PCT Heading 8543.7070, electric rechargeable shavers classifiable under PCT Heading 8510.1000 and door locks classifiable under PCT Headings 8301.3000 and 8301.4000 in dismantled condition and declare them as parts of products in order to escape the application of valuation rulings and get benefit of lower duty structure through misclassification.

The collectorate directed all the field formations/assessment/examining officers to be vigilant while examining/assessing the consignments of such products and carefully examine the goods declarations and physical description of goods to ascertain that the goods are not deliberately being imported/declared in parts to avoid payment of full amount of duty/taxes due.
