Alfa-Bank retains business plans in Ukraine

KIEV: Alfa-Bank (Ukraine, Kyiv) retains its strategy and plans for business development in Ukraine, Alfa-Bank Ukraine CEO Rushan Khvesiuk has said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine.

“We reiterate keeping our development strategy in Ukraine, as well as our shareholders, who are ready to invest in the country. We understand that this is one of the most promising markets, where Alfa Group is presented, and do not intend to give up our development plans,” he stressed.

Asked by Interfax-Ukraine on the plan for the financial institution’s recapitalization this year, Khvesiuk said the bank plans to raise capital, however he has not specified the sum.

“The recapitalization plan for the first ten banks has been approved, therefore we have the plan agreed with the National Bank of Ukraine,” the banker said. At the same time, he noted that in the previous year and a half the bank twice increased charter capital.

Regarding the recent attack on the Alfa-Bank branch in Khreschatyk Street, he expressed confidence law enforcement agencies would investigate the incident soon and punish those guilty. The banker said the loss from the attack on the bank office is estimated at about UAH 2.5 million.

As reported, the Alfa-Bank office in the center of Kyiv in Khreschatyk Street on February 20 was attacked by a group of unknown persons, while ion February 23 the office resumed work.
