During the first six months of 2015, the European makes, particularly the French and German ones, topped the list of imported vehicles, followed by Japanese and South Korean makes; the same trend was recorded in 2014.

This drop in imports occurs following the decisions taken by the government to curb the market of vehicles which was characterized, over the past few years, by deep malfunctioning and illegal practices.

Among these irregularities, there are some financial practices used by car dealers aimed at transferring capitals to other countries, increasing expenses and balancing their accounts through increasingly used techniques to avoid paying the country’s financial taxes and tax inspection, according to a study carried out by the ministry.
