All-out efforts being made to enhance citrus productions

SARGODHA: Citrus Research Institute Director Altaf-ul-Rehman has said that all kinds of assistance, modern techniques awareness are being provided to farmers to enhance per acre citrus yield.

Talking to APP on Saturday, he said that agriculture was the backbone of economy and all-out efforts were being made to resolve issues facing farmers on priority basis.

He said modern technology awareness and quality and diseases-free seeds and plants were being made available to farmers. He asked farmers to visit the Citrus Research Institute where proper consultation would be given to them.

He said the region was known as largest citrus production market where a total of 1,237,051-tonne citrus was produced from 94,623-acre area every year. He advised farmers to instal at least six frames of Methyl eugenol at their orchard farms to avoid fruit bees.

He said the farmers should spray their orchards with two gram thiophanate methyl in one liter water and also consult on these numbers: Abdul Rehman, Assistant Plant Pathologist 0300-6037325, Assistant Research Officer Plant Pathology Raja Shafqat 0302 8153450.
