Judicial remand of alleged smuggler extended

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has again approved a 14-days judicial remand of accused Shaukat Ali in a case pertaining to the smuggling of Iranian plastic raw material.

Earlier, the accused was in the custody of Customs intelligence on judicial remand. Shaukat Ali was arrested when the Customs Intelligence raided a warehouse in Shahdara and recovered 10,950 kilogram of smuggled plastic material worth Rs 1.9 million.

The officials seized all the smuggled material and arrested the owner Shaukat Ali son of Miraj Din, besides registering a case against him under Section 2(s), 16, 156,(1) and 178 of Pakistan Customs Act, 1969

On Tuesday, the customs team presented the accused before the court of Special Judge Chaudhary Ameer Muhammad Khan and asked for extension in remand. The judged after reviewing the record ordered to extend the judicial remand.
