LAHORE – Due to dwindling furnace oil stocks, PPP’s central Punjab President Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo warned the government and the nation that the worst loadshedding of electricity in the days to come in the country where, according to the Power Ministry’s report, demand of electricity has surged to 14000MW, while the generation has reduced to only 7,000MW.
Refineries are unable to fulfill the demands of furnace oil, while a decision to purchase 12 cargoes of furnace oil has been facing a shortfall of Rs30 billion. Wattoo added that major cities of the country had been faced with over 16-hour outages while in rural areas people were being given feeling of living in an era of pre-recorded history. He said that farmers were facing double jeopardy because their tube wells were lying idle affecting the irrigation of their landholdings and the good prospects of crops were almost nil.
He said that the present government was an embodiment of mismanagement, ineptness and above all lacked vision and, therefore, the people of this country were doomed and their hopes of good days had dashed during the PML-N government’s rule.
The PPP leader said that Punjab Chief Minister would boast of overcoming the power outages within months while beating the heat with hand-made fan at Minar-i- Pakistan.
