SEOUL: Taking a look back at the week’s news across the Android world, this week’s Android Circuit highlights a number of stories including the Galaxy S5 vs. the Galaxy Note 4, the Note 4 LTE, Xiamoi’s 2015 strategy and financials, where is the profit in Android and can Samsung find it, is the Moto G the Smartphone of the year, and is Android 2.3 Gingerbread a good OS in 2015?
Android Circuit is here to remind users of a few of the many things that have happened around Android over the last seven days.
When one of user’s smartphones is seen as a ‘big’ Smartphone, and another is seen as a ‘small’ phablet, they need a head to head review to decide which to buy.
The South Korean giant has been running its Galaxy S and Galaxy Note ranges in parallel for some time. But an interesting evolution is under way: Note sales are catching Galaxy S sales. In particular the Galaxy S5 has been a relative sales flop while the Note 4 has continued to flourish and now there is a new supercharged version.
That said both phones’ sales remain head and shoulders above the Android competition. So the question remains: which is better?
The New Galaxy Note 4 LTE is ‘the world’s fastest Smartphone’
Staying with Samsung’s Note range of computers, the South Korean company has announced a new member to the family the Galaxy Note 4 LTE A.
The ‘Galaxy Note 4 LTE A’ is a significantly upgraded (though visually identical) version of existing Note 4. It brings cutting edge 4G connectivity capable of reaching speeds of up to 450Mbps along with Qualcomm QCOM -0.46%’s first premium 64-bit chipset, the ‘Snapdragon 810′.
This follows a similar strategy to the Galaxy S5 portfolio, which saw the Galaxy S5 LTE released in June last year with LTE-A and a larger screen compared to the original Galaxy S5. It was a limited release for South Korea, and the Note 4 LTE is likely to follow a similar distribution model.
