BEIJING: OnePlus One has announced in a post on the official company’s forum which stated that Lollipop will arrive on OnePlus One by the end of the month. The roll-out was delayed due to some “unexpected hurdles.” Moreover, those running CyanogenMod are not left-out and will get the update as well.
Lollipop is named CM 12S and is an over-the-air update. On the other hand, those using Oxygen OS will have to manually flash the ROM to use the new OS.
The post revealed that the delay in the roll-out was due to some issues with the camera, WiFi drivers and OS signing.
We never intended to keep you waiting. Unfortunately, we ran into some unexpected roadblocks. First, there was an unforeseen OS signing issue, which has recently been resolved. Our camera module had stability issues on Lollipop, and we had to rebuild it for compatibility. Several other crucial drivers, including our Wi-Fi drivers, also needed to be updated to work flawlessly with the upgrade.
OnePlus says it took longer than expected but they don’t believe in releasing updates they aren’t proud of.
CM 12S will roll-out before March 30th, while Oxygen OS users can expect the roll-out before March 27. To let fans know how serious OnePlus is about these deadlines and to assure there won’t be any delays, a giveaway will be held in case they miss either of these deadlines.
According to the post: “If we miss either one of these deadlines, we will give away five (5) 64GB OnePlus One devices to our fans.” Well, I really want a chance to win one of these awesome devices but I don’t think fans can wait any longer for the update to roll-out.
