ANF arrests PIA staffer in heroin smuggling case

LAHORE: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has arrested another employee of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in a heroin smuggling case.

The ANF arrested accused Iqbal Ghurki for his alleged involvement in smuggling heroin in various flights. According to initial reports, ANF arrested the accused from Lahore for hiding bags of heroin in several flights of the national-flag carrier.

The PIA spokesperson, Daniyal Gilani, has also acknowledged that some officials had been handed over to agencies for investigation.

Previously, 27kg heroin in two different flights of the national flag carrier was seized. The matter was taken up by the National Assembly Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat with Rana Muhammad Hayat Khan in the chair.
