ANF foils bids to smuggle Rs4,761m drugs abroad

ISLAMABAD: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered huge quantity of drugs, including included 2.4 tons opium, 920gram amphetamine (Ice), 17.2kg charas and 7g cocaine worth Rs4,761 million in seven different operations carried out in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Haripur, Multan, Karachi and Pishin.

As per details, ANF Quetta carried out a successful intelligence led operation and seized 2,372kg opium an area of Killi Pihari Shin, Tehsil Bashore, District Pishin. The drug was packed in 80 plastic bags, each bag contained 29-30kg opium and was concealed in the cuttings of mountainous terrain. As per initial investigations, the consignment was placed for handing over to another Narco Gang. The consignment was finally to be transported to Karachi via RCD Highway for smuggling abroad.

ANF Karachi Airport Team arrested Abdul Sattar Arain r/o Lahore at Jinnah International Airport and recovered 920g amphetamine (Ice) from his luggage. Ice was concealed in embroidered ladies shirts and other hosiery stuff. The accused arrived at Karachi from Lahore by Shaheen Airline Flight No NL-143 and intended to fly for Bangkok via Colombo by Air Lanka Flight No UL-184.

ANF Karachi Airport Team intercepted a passenger namely Muhammad Arshad r/o Sheikhupura at Jinnah International Airport who confessed of having ingested heroin-filled capsules. He was boarding for Colombo (Sri Lanka) by Air Lanka Flight No UL-184.

ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team during routine profiling at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, detained a suspected passenger Muhammad Taj r/o Kurram Agency on suspicion of ingested heroin-filled capsules. During interrogation, he confessed of having heroin-filled capsules in his stomach. The accused was shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Rawalpindi for recovery of heroin capsules. He intended to take off for Dubai by Emirates Airline Flight No EK-615.

ANF Rawalpindi arrested 2 individuals Naik Daraz Khan r/o Islamabad and Mehboob-ur-Rehman r/o Peshawar, recovering 7g cocaine from their possession. They were taken into custody near GPO Chowk, Saddar, Rawalpindi while travelling on motorcycle No ACN-876-ICT.

ANF Peshawar intercepted a Suzuki Bolan Registered No UY-274 near Bilalwal Marriage Hall, Haripur City and recovered 5kg charas garda concealed in it. Two individuals on board Aamir Zia and Shakeel Ahmed, both residents of Haripur were apprehended at the spot. Both the accused are involved in drug pushing at local level. The ANF also arrested their other accomplice namely Muhammad Amin r/o Peshawar along with recovery of 11Kg charas. He was arrested near Hazara Toyota Workshop, Haripur City while riding on a motorcycle No RIR-3643. The accused is reported as main source of drug supply. The operation resulted in total recovery of 16kg charas.

Meanwhile, ANF Lahore in pursuance of an information, raided a house in Umar Farooq Bazar, near Ghanta Ghar, Multan City and arrested a street peddler namely Muhammad Irfan along with 1.2Kg Charas.

All the cases have been registered at the ANF police stations and further investigations are under process.
