ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has foiled four bids to smuggle Rs222 million worth 34.7-kilogram heroin abroad at Benazir Bhutto International Airport.
ANF Commander Brigadier Ramzan said that on intelligence tips-off regarding drugs smuggling, the force apprehended four passengers leaving for Saudi Arabia, Italy during search and scanning procedure.
The ANF airport team arrested two passengers identified as Qasim Ali and Ghulam Ali, both hailing from Sargodha, and recovered 11.3kg kilograms of heroin from their luggage. They were taken into custody separately from pedestrian entry gate of BBIA. Both accused were scheduled to fly for Riyadh by Shaheen Airline Flight No. NL-739.
Moreover, the ANF team arrested Muhammad Saghir, resident of Sialkot, at the same airport after recovery of 11.350kg heroin from his luggage. He was to fly for Austria by Qatar Airlines Flight No. QR-613. Another passenger named Ashfaq Ali, resident of Faisalabad, was detained after recovery of 12.05kg heroin from his baggage. He was to take off for Italy by Turkish Airlines Flight No TK-711.
