ANF recovers 135kg drugs worth Rs 367m, arrests 17 traffickers

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered Rs 367 million worth of 135kg narcotics and arrested 17 drug traffickers during different operations across the country.

The seized drugs included 44.65kg heroin, 65kg hashish, 24kg opium and 1.1kg amphetamine and seized two vehicles in 13 operations conducted at Islamabad, Faisalabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, Jamshoro and Nankana Sahib.

According to details, the ANF Rawalpindi recovered 1.25kg hashish from possession of a local drug peddler who was arrested while travelling in a passenger van near Tarnol railway crossing, GT Road, Islamabad.

The ANF Lahore arrested a passenger namely Muhammad Asghar, resident of Faisalabad at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore and recovered 1.5kg heroin concealed in his trolley bag. The accused was intended to go Kuwait by PIA Flight No PK-205. In another operation, the ANF Lahore recovered 1.2kg hashish from personal possession of a local drug peddler namely Shahbaz Ali. The accused was arrested near main motorway toll plaza, Faisalabad.

In third operation, the ANF Lahore intercepted a Suzuki Alto car near main motorway toll plaza, Faisalabad and recovered 22.8kg hashish and 6kg opium which was concealed in it. Three persons identified as Faqeer Hussain, resident of Toba Tek Singh, Mian Tajammal Shah and Muhammad Khan both residents of Khyber Agency were also arrested on the spot.

In fourth operation, the ANF Lahore arrested a suspected person namely Rana Javed Iqbal, resident of Nankana Sahib near Basharat Traders, Head Baloki Road, Khunda More, Nankana Sahib and recovered 90 heroin-filled capsules (840 Gram) from personal possession of the accused. The ANF arrested a proclaimed offender Muhammad Imran son of Hashim Ali, resident of Multan, who was wanted in FIR No. 34/2011 of PS ANF Multan.

The ANF Peshawar arrested an accused namely Johar Ali Khan, resident of Charsada at Peshawar International Airport on suspicious of ingested heroin-filled capsules. During search, 1.1kg amphetamine was recovered from trolley bag of the accused. The shifted to hospital for recovery of capsules. He was to travel for Jeddah by Shaheen Airlines Flight No NL-773.

In another operation, the ANF Peshawar recovered 1.1kg hashish from personal possession of two individuals Fida Muhammad and Ihsan Ul Haq both residents of Mardan, while travelling in a passenger coach near motorway toll plaza. In third Operation, the ANF team arrested Syed Zahoor Hussain, resident of Khyber Agency near motorway toll plaza, Peshawar, while travelling in passenger van and recovered one kg Heroin from his possession.

Moreover, the ANF Peshawar intercepted a Honda Civic near motorway toll plaza, Peshawar and recovered 18kg opium and 34.8kg hashish from secret cavities of the car. Two local drug peddlers, namely Shakeel Ahmed and Amjad Khan, have also been arrested on the spot.

The ANF Karachi, on pursuance of an intelligence report raided a house at Bawa Chowk, Mehmood Shah Road, Old Haji Camp, Lyari Karachi and seized 41kg heroin concealed inside the house. An accused namely Muhammad Naeem, resident of Karachi, was also arrested during the operation.

In another operation, the ANF Karachi arrested an accused namely Ali Asghar Brohi, resident of Larkana at Sirjani Town, West Karachi and recovered 1.9kg hashish from his personal possession. The ANF team arrested a local drug peddler namely Ghabol Muhammad from Bandar Mohallah, Tehsil Sehwan, Jamshoro and recovered 24 grams heroin and 1.9kg hashish from his possession. During operation, the ANF seized a parcel containing shin pads at TCS Courier Service office, Karachi and recovered 290 grams Heroin concealed tactfully inside the shin pads. The parcel was booked from Sialkot and was intended to be dispatched to Netherlands.

All the cases have been registered in the respective ANF police stations and investigations are under progress.
