ANF recovers 181-kg drugs, arrests 34

LAHORE: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted 25 operations across country, recovered 181-kg drugs worth to Rs 221.18 million and arrested 34 drug-traffickers along with six vehicles.

The recovered drugs 154-kg Hashish, 3.8-kg heroin, 2.5-kg opium, 1.64-kg methamphetamine, 940-gram cocaine, 475-gram amphetamine, 160-litre acetic anhydride and 36,000 Ecstasy tablets.

According to a spokesman, the ANF Rawalpindi recovered 396-gram heroin from UK-bound parcel, being sent through a courier service based in Attock. Heroin was concealed in clothes.

In another operation, the ANF arrested one Abdullah Jan, a resident of Swabi, at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad and recovered 475-gram amphetamine, which was concealed in his suitcase. He was travelling to Saudi Arabia by Shaheen Airlines Flight No NL-739.

In the third operation, the ANF Rawalpindi, in collaboration with ASF arrested an accused namely Sajjad-ud-Din, a resident of Peshawar and recovered 2.5-kg opium concealed in a trolley bag. The accused intended to board Bangkok-bound Flight No TG-350.

The ANF Lahore recovered 300-gram hashish and arrested a local drug-peddler, Khalid Nawaz of Sialkot. He was arrested near Sambrial dry port, Sialkot. In another operation, ANF Lahore intercepted a Honda Civic car near Motorway Toll Plaza, Sheikhupura and recovered 5-kg hashish concealed in secret cavities of the vehicle. A person on board identified as Noor Ullah Khan of Khyber Agency was arrested during the operation.

In the third operation, ANF Lahore recovered 1.7-kg hashish and arrested two drug-peddlers—Muhammad Dilshad and Abdul Jabbar, both residents of Multan. They were arrested near main gate, NPB, Agahi Chowk, Multan.

In the fourth operation, ANF Lahore intercepted a Toyota Hiace near PSO Pump, Al-Ghazi Filling Station, Sakhi Sarwar Road, DG Khan and recovered 2-kg hashish concealed in secret cavities of the vehicle.

A person on board identified as Habib Ullah of Quetta was also arrested. In the fifth operation, ANF Lahore intercepted a Toyota Corolla car near Toll Plaza Samundari Road Faisalabad and recovered 1.035-kg heroin and 200-gram hashish concealed in secret cavity of the car. Two persons on board identified as Gul Shahbaz and Shahzad Masih of Faisalabad were apprehended.

In the sixth operation, ANF Lahore arrested Nigerian citizen identified as Emma Chima from Faisalabd airport, who was coming from Nigeria to Pakistan by Flight No FZ-323 and recovered 940-gram cocaine. Accused was carrying narcotics filled capsules in his stomach.
