ANF recovers 2.28 ton narcotics worth Rs10b in six operations

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered 2.28 ton narcotics and 710 kilogram of prohibited chemicals in six operations carried out at Qilla Saifullah, Lasbela, Chaghi, Faisalabad and Gilgit. The recovered drugs comprised 1.423 ton heroin, 790 kilograms of opium, 69 kilograms of hashish and 980 gram Amphetamine. The ANF also arrested four drug traffickers, including a woman and seized two vehicles during the operations. The worth of the seized narcotics is Rs 10 billion in international market.

According to details, ANF in an intelligence operation raided an uninhabited site situated at Killi Shin Chinar, tehsil Badini, district Qilla Saifullah and seized 1423 kilogram of heroin concealed in wild bushes along seasonal stream. In another intelligence led operation, ANF Quetta foiled an attempt to smuggle 790 kilograms of opium by intercepting an oil tanker at general area, Panjgoor, district Lasbela.

As per details, ANF received an information through its source that a huge quantity of drug is being planned to smuggle abroad. On pursuance of information, ANF established road check at desired site. During course of surveillance, a suspected oil tanker was intercepted at ANF road check. However, the driver of the vehicle managed to flee from the scene taking advantage of the darkness. ANF took the vehicle into custody and seized 790 kilograms of opium, which was tactfully concealed in improvised cavities of the vehicle.Yet in another intelligence led operation, ANF Quetta intercepted a Toyota Zamyad at general area Girdi Jungle, tehsil Dalbandin, district Chaghi and recovered 69 kilograms of hashish and 710 kilograms of prohibited chemical.

However, the accused on board managed to escape from the scene taking advantage of the darkness. ANF Rawalpindi in an operation launched at river bank near village Morkhon, district Gilgit, arrested a drug trafficker along with 10 kilograms of heroin, which was concealed in his luggage. ANF Lahore airport team in two separate operations at Faisalabad airport arrested  three passengers including Muhammad Yousaf and Fatima Bibi along with recovery of 980 gram amphetamine concealed in their briefcases and  recovered 700 gram heroin from luggage of passenger named Attaur Rehman. They intended to board for Jeddah and Bahrain respectively by Gulf Airline Flight No. GF-791. All cases have been registered in ANF police stations and investigations are under progress.
