ANF recovers 986kg drugs worth Rs 6.477 billion

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotic Force (ANF), during country-wide operations, recovered 972 kg heroin, 13 kg charas and 150 gram opium. The value of recovered drugs approximately amounts to Rs 6.477 billion in international markets. ANF also arrested 7 persons involved in drug trafficking and seized 4 vehicles during the operations. Most of the recovered drugs were destined for foreign destinations.
According to details, ANF Quetta received an intelligence report that a Narcotics Gang intended to transport huge quantity of Heroin to Karachi for smuggling abroad. On pursuance of the intelligence report, a road check was set up in general area of Killi Shah Gul, near Mezai Bus Stand, Chaman Road, District Qilla Abdullah. During surveillance, a Mitsubishi Pajero Registered No. BC-1437-Sindh stopped in suspected mode at some distance from ANF Road Check. Suspecting the situation, ANF Team approached the said vehicle and taken it into custody. However, persons on board had already fled from the scene abandoning the vehicle unattended behind. Search of the vehicle resulted in recovery of 941 Kg Heroin. Heroin was stuffed in 164 plastic packets, each contained 5-6 Kg Heroin. According to reports, Heroin was to be transported to Karachi through RCD highway for onward smuggling to some foreign location across the sea. ANF Peshawar on a tip-off seized a Truck No. PKL-995 at GT Road, near Pabbi, Peshawar and recovered 30 Kgs of Heroin. Heroin was tactfully concealed in spare tyres of the truck. Three persons on board including Jalal-ud-Din (driver), Muhammad Karim (conductor) and Muhammad Rahim (helper) were arrested at the spot. According to details, the accused are real brothers and belonged to District Qilla Abdullah. As per initial reports, they were proceeding to Quetta and intended to deliver Heroin to a recipient namely Haji Seed, a resident of Quetta. ANF Peshawar apprehended an accused Khyber Khan, a resident of Khyber Agency and recovered 1 Kg of heroin from his personal possession. Heroin was contained in a shopping bag. He was arrested near Daewoo Bus Terminal, Peshawar. The accused intended to proceed to Lahore for delivery of drugs to a local peddler.
