ANF recovers narcotics worth Rs 577m in 16 countrywide operations

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered 20 kilogram heroin, 716 kilogram hashish, 1.3 kilogram amphetamine and 4.8 kilogram opium in 16 operations conducted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Lahore, Multan, DI Khan, Peshawar, Nowshehra, Karachi and Quetta.

During these operations, the ANF also arrested 21 persons involved in drug smuggling, including three foreigners and seized seven vehicles. The worth of the seized narcotics is Rs 577 million in international market.

According to details, ANF Karachi intercepted a truck near Bismillah Market, Super Highway, Karachi, and recovered 700kg kashish concealed in secret cavities of the truck. Three persons on board including Ezzat Wali, Naseer Ahmed and Akhtar Ullah were arrested during the operation. In another operation, ANF Karachi airport team arrested Abdullah resident of Kech at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi and recovered 4.8 kg opium concealed in his passenger bag.

He was to take off for Doha by Qatar Airways Flight No QR-611. Yet in another operation, ANF Karachi arrested a local drug peddler Gul Dad Shah from and recovered 7.5 kg hashish from his personal possession. He was arrested near Hospital Chowrangi, Landhi, Karachi. In fourth operation, ANF Karachi Road Check Team arrested 2 local drug peddlers Muhammad Shahid and Muhammad Munawar Khan, while they were riding on a motorcycle near Caltex Petrol Pump, Star Gate, Sharah-e-Faisal, Karachi and recovered 3 Kg Heroin their possession.

ANF Lahore intercepted a UK bound parcel containing baby clothes at an office of courier service company based at Lahore and recovered 115 Gram Heroin concealed inside these clothes.

In another operation, ANF Lahore Airport Team arrested a passenger Allah Ditta resident of Khushab at Multan International, while he was boarding for Madina by Emirates Airlines Flight No. EK-631 and recovered 970 Gm Amphetamine concealed in his suitcase. ANF Rawalpindi arrested a local drug supplier and recovered 1.2 Kg Hashish from his personal possession.

He was arrested at Kamra Bus Stop, GT Road, DistrictAttock. In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi Road Check Team during routine profiling at Gondal Bus Stop, GT Road, Attockintercepted a Suzuki Mehran car, recovering 6 Kg Hashish from secret cavities of thecar. A person on board identified as GhufranUllah resident of Nowsherawas also arrested during theoperation. Yet in another operation, ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team arrested 3 Nigerian nationals namedSimon AmadiAzubieke, Sunny Michael Ochiele and Philip OkechuwyAmuzieat Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, who confessed of carrying Heroin filled capsules in their bellies. They intended to board forIstanbul by Turkish Airlines Flight No. TK-741.In fourth operation, ANF Rawalpindi recovered 500 Gram Hashish from possession of a drug peddler who was arrested near Zeeshan Mango Juice Corner, Murree Road, Rawalpindi. In fifth operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested a local drug supplier while he was riding on a motorcycle near Haro Toll Plaza, GT Road, Attock, recovering 1.3 kg Heroin from his personal possession.

ANF Peshawar recovered 4.8kg  hashish from personal possession of ArshUllah resident of Peshawar, who was arrested near Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar while travelling in a passenger van. In another operation, ANF Peshawar arrested a drug peddler named Ali Muhammad resident Khyber Agency along with recovery of 500 Gram Heroin. He was arrested at Daewoo Bus Terminal, Peshawar.

Yet in another operation, ANF Peshawar Airport Team arrested a passenger identified as Raza Muhammad resident Mardan at Peshawar Airport and recovered 360 Gram Amphetamine concealed in his trolley bag. He wasboarding forJeddah by Shaheen Airline Flight No NL-721. In fourth operation, ANF Peshawar Road Check Team intercepted a Suzuki Mehran car at PushaPul, Bannu Road, D.I Khan and recovered 2 Kg Hashish concealed in it. Two persons on board identified asRahid Khan and Sahir Shah were also arrested during the operation. In fifth operation, ANF Peshawar intercepted a Suzuki Mehran car near Amangarh Bridge, Nowshehra and recovered 6 Kg Heroin concealed inside the car, while arrested a drug trafficker identified as Raheem Khan. As per initial investigations, Heroin was being smuggled to Rawalpindi. ANF Quetta on pursuance of information captured a Toyota Passo near D-Block Chowk, TurbatGawadar Road, District Kech, seizing 9 Kg Heroin concealed inside the vehicle.

However, the persons on board managed to escape from the scene taking advantage of the darkness.  All cases have been registered in ANF Police Stations and further investigations are under progress.
