ANF recovers Rs52.24m worth 25.44kg charas, 4.03kg heroin in five operations

ISLAMABAD: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has launched five operations in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Muzaffargarh, Peshawar and Karachi and recovered Rs52.24 million worth of 25.44kg charas and 4.03kg heroin and arrested nine alleged drug smugglers including three women and two Afghan refugees, seizing four vehicles.

According to details, ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Suzuki Mehran Car No. VE-527 near Chungi No 26, GT Road and arrested an accused on board namely Muhammad Tariq r/o Peshawar along with 1.1kg heroin. During preliminary investigations, the drug recipient namely Jahanzeb Khan r/o Islamabad was also arrested from nearby site, while driving Suzuki FX Car No RIM-2317. On further pointation of the arrested accused, a follow up operation was conducted at Ghousia bus stand, Pirwadhai Morr and arrested two female smugglers Nusrat Bibi and Uzma Bibi, both residents of Peshawar along with 2.25kg heroin.

ANF Rawalpindi seized a Honda Civic Car No LXD-9654 near Faizabad bus stop, Murree Road and arrested two Afghan refugees Imran Khan and Nadeem Khan along with 3kg charas (garda). As per reports, the accused came from Peshawar for delivery of drugs to a local peddler.

ANF Lahore on pursuance of an information, apprehended Sajid Hussain and his female accomplice Aeysha Mai, both residents of Muzaffargarh and recovered 2.04kg charas from their possession. They were arrested near KB bus stand, Muzaffargarh City while riding on a Honda Motorcycle (Applied For). ANF Lahore Airport Team detained a suspected passenger Muhammad Naseer r/o Sargodha at Allama Iqbal International Airport and recovered 112 heroin filled capsules weighing 0.680kg heroin. Capsules were tactfully concealed inside the box containing oranges. As per initial investigations, the reported source of drug supply is Syed Pathan r/o Mardan, while the drugs were handed over to the arrested accused by another accused namely Murad Khan at Thoker Niaz Baig Interchange, Lahore. The accused was to board for Sharjah by PIA Flight No PA-411.

ANF Karachi raided a premises near Lahore-Bajore Hotel, Steel Town, National Highway and recovered 20.4kg charas from the premises. As per initial information, the premises was being used as narcotics den. The drug offenders however, succeeded to flee from the scene.

All the cases have been registered in the ANF police stations and further investigations are under process.
