ANF seizes 1.28-tonne morphine worth Rs 1.8 billion

RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Narcotics Force ANF seized huge cache of narcotics weighing 1.28-tonne worth Rs 1.8 billion in international market in three operations carried out at Peshawar, Hyderabad and Chaghi.

The seized drugs comprised of 1.28 tonne morphine, 1.13kg hashish and 850g heroin.

During the operations, ANF also arrested two persons involved in drug trafficking. Most of the seized drugs were destined abroad. ANF Quetta while carrying out a successful intelligence led operation at district Chagi seized mega consignment of morphine weighing 1.28 tonne.

According to details, ANF raided an uninhabited site located at Kili Postai, tehsil & district Chaghi and seized 1.28 tonne morphine concealed alongside a seasonal stream.

As per preliminary reports, drug was placed at a cache site for handing over to another narcotics gang for onward transportation to some unidentified destination on receipt of safe signal.

ANF Karachi arrested a local drug peddler identified as Achar, resident of Mirpur Khas, and recovered 1.13 Kg Hashish from his personal possession. He was arrested near Total petrol pump, Fateh Chowk, Hyderabad City.

ANF Peshawar arrested a suspected passenger identified as Wahadat Khan, resident of Charsadda, at Peshawar Airport while he was boarding for Muscat via Sharjah by Air Arabia Flight No. G9-557 and recovered 850 Gram Heroin concealed in his shoes. During investigation, the accused also confessed of having ingested Heroin filled capsules. All the cases were registered at respective ANF police stations and further investigation is underway.
