ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized Rs 95 million worth of 121-kilogramme drugs, including 111 kg hashish, 2.3 kg heroin, five kg opium, 2.86 kg ice and 450 psychotropic tablets, in 18 different operations across the country
The ANF, during the operations carried out at Lahore, Khushab, Haripur, Peshawar, Hyderabad and Karachi, seized four vehicles and arrested 25 suspected drug smugglers, including six women.
According to details, the ANF Lahore arrested a female drug carrier, identified as Sadia Yaqoob, recovering six-kg hashish from her possession. A local drug supplier, identified as Sabir Amin, was arrested with two kg hashish, while two drug suppliers, Nadeem Akhtar Qadri and Muddassar Iqbal, were also arrested having 30-kg hashish.
The ANF, on a tipoff, intercepted a car near Shahpur area of Khushab District and recovered 9.6kg hashish and 4kg opium during search of the vehicle. A suspect drug trafficker, identified as Muhammad Shahid and resident of Gujranwala, was also apprehended.
In another operation, the ANF apprehended two passengers, identified as Zahoor John and Asima Mazhar, at Allama Iqbal International Airport while they were about to board a Colombo-bound flight, besides recovering 850 grams heroin concealed in their trolley bag. During interrogation, they also confessed to having ingested heroin-filled capsules.
The ANF arrested a passenger namely Muhammad Tariq Jan at Peshawar Airport when he was boarding for Riyyadh and recovered 770-gram amphetamine concealed in his briefcase.
In another operation, the ANF Peshawar road check team arrested Muhammad Ehsan and his female accomplice identified as Kinza Bibi and recovered 1.5kg hashish and 1.2kg heroin from their possession. The ANF Peshawar also intercepted another passenger Tahir Zaman and recovered 1.04kg hashish.
In another operation, the ANF Peshawar road check team intercepted a taxi near Panian Chowk, Karakoram Highway, Haripur and arrested two drug carriers identified as Sarwar and his female accomplice Baslal, both residents of Charsadda along with two-kg hashish. In fifth operation, the ANF Peshawar airport team detained a passenger, identified as Nawab Gul and resident of Hangu, when he was boarding for Ras-al-Khaima and recovered 420-gram ice concealed in his trolley bag.
The Karachi ANF intercepted a UK-bound parcel containing documents at a courier service office and recovered 30-gram heroin concealed in it. In another operation, the ANF seized a parcel at an office of a courier service company based at Karachi and recovered 240-gram heroin concealed within surgical items. The ANF also arrested a local drug peddler identified as Ahmed along with 2-kg hashish. The accused was arrested from Fateh Chowk, Hyderabad.
All cases were registered at the respective ANF police stations and further investigations are underway.
