ANF seizes 150kg drug worth Rs209.12m, arrests 11 traffickers

ISLAMABAD: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) recovered huge quantity of drugs worth Rs209.12 million including 131kg charas, 8.5 kg heroin and 10.8kg opium during five operations conducted in Haripur, Peshawar, Hyderabad and Karachi and also arrested 11 offenders including a woman.

As per details, ANF Peshawar seized a suspected Mercedes Benz Car No E-6826 at Baka More, Panian, GT Road, Haripur and recovered 108kg charas (56.8kg charas garda & 51kg charas pukhta) and 10.8kg opium, concealed in cavities inside the car. Three individuals involved in trafficking of drugs, namely Muhammad Nawaz, Waqas Rehman and their accomplice Farhat Deeba, all residents of Peshawar were taken into custody along with car. As per initial reports, the drugs were being shifted from Peshawar to Abbotabad.

ANF Peshawar Road Check Team during routine checking near main Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar, searched a passenger van coming from Peshawar and held a passenger Khalid Mehmood r/o Wah Cantt with recovery of 13.8kg Charas from his possession.

Charas was packed in 11 packets and was concealed a Soap Carton. He intended to smuggle the drugs to Rawalpindi for local use.

ANF Karachi Airport Team during a raid at Shaheen Airport Services Cargo Shed situated at Jinnah International Airport thwarted attempt to smuggle heroin abroad and seized 8.5kg heroin. During operation, four individuals including an employee of Shaheen Airport Services were taken into custody. Concealed in cloth bag, 2.5kg heroin was recovered from Muhammad Yousaf, Yousaf Raza and Asad Ali, all residents of Karachi, who were arrested near entrance of Air Freight Unit, Export Cargo. After initial investigations, another individual Salman r/o Karachi (employee of Shaheen Airport Services) was also arrested with 6kg heroin concealed in his personal cupboard. The accused intended to smuggle heroin to UK.

ANF Karachi in an operation conducted at Fateh Chowk bus stop, Hyderabad, and recovered 6kg charas from Talib Hussain and Muhammad Saeed, both residents of District Mir Pur Khas. Charas was concealed in their luggage.

Meanwhile, ANF Karachi also arrested a biker Roshan while near Kissana Mori Canal, Tehsil Tando Jam, District Hyderabad and recovered 3kg charas from his possession.

All cases have been registered at the ANF police stations and further investigations are under progress.
