ANF seizes 3,556-kg drugs, arrests five smugglers

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) claimed to have arrested five drug peddlers with huge quantity of drugs, including 3,534 kgs of hashish, 19 kgs of heroin and 2.4 kgs of opium in different cities.
The raids were carried out in Islamabad, Lahore, Haripur, Sukkur, Qilla Abdullah and Turbat.
According to details, in Quetta while acting on a tip-off, the conducted a raid in Killi Chota Habibzai area in District Qilla Abduallah and seized 3,043 kgs of hashish.
The contraband was hidden at an uninhabited site in the mountainous terrain and was to be transported to Iran.
In another raid, the ANF seized 16 kgs of heroin (chrystal) hidden under old Kech River Bridge near Turbat city.
In Sukkar, the ANF intercepted a Hino Truck TKL-458 near Jahan Khan on Sukkur-Shikarpur Road and recovered 490 kgs of charas tactfully concealed in its fuel tank. Two accused were also arrested on the spot.
In Lahore, the force conducted a raid near Niazi Bus Stand on Bund Road and arrested one Muhabat Khan, a resident of Mardan with 2.4 kgs of opium.
In Haripur, the ANF arrested Ziaul Haq, a resident of Abbotabad near Government Degree College with 1.2 kgs of charas.
Meanwhile, the ANF Rawalpindi Airport team arrested Habibur Rehman, a resident of Mianwali, at Benazir International Airport and recovered 2.8 kgs of heroin from his luggage. He was scheduled to leave for Dubai by Shaheen Airlines Flight NL-221.
