ANF seizes 5.5kg herion, 317kg charas worth Rs793m

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Norcotics Force (ANF) during its countrywide operations in different cities, recovered 5.5Kg heroin and 317kg charas worth Rs793 million and arrested 13 persons involved in drug trafficking and also impounded five vehicles.

The ANF Rawalpindi, while acting on a tipoff, arrested an accused identified as Muhammad Shahnawaz Kayani, resident of AJK near Airport, Rawalpindi, and recovered 2.5kg heroin tactfully concealed inside the baby jackets.

The ANF Rawalpindi also intercepted a Toyota Vitz car registered No. LEH-996 at Service Road East, F-11/3, Margalla Road, Islamabad, and held an accused identified as Zeeshan Ansari, resident of Peshawar and recovered 1kg heroin. Another team intercepted a Toyota Corolla car registered No.SF-760-ICT near Jungle Hotel, Kashmir Hotel, Islamabad, and seized 20kg charas concealed in secret cavities of the car and arrested a drug trafficker namely Zakir Ullah, resident of Khyber Agency.

Another ANF Rawalpindi team, in an operation conducted near Chungi No. 26, GT Road, arrested a drug carrier namely Muhammad Aslam resident of Gujranwala and recovered 3kg charas from his personal possession. The ANF team also stopped a Toyota Hiace registered No. LHD-4628 near Haji Shah Morr, GT Road, Attock and recovered 10kg charas during search of the vehicle. Two persons on board, identified as Sajid Hussain resident of Gujrat and Muhammad Tariq Khan resident of Peshawar were also arrested at the spot.

An ANF team detained a passenger namely Fazaldad, resident of AJK, at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, while he intended to proceed for Jeddah by Shaheen Airline Flight No. NL-719 and recovered 1kg heroin concealed in his passenger bag. Meanwhile, an ANF team during routine profiling at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, arrested an accused namely Muhammad Ikram, hailing from Swat, who confessed of having gulped heroin-filled capsules. He was to take off for Sharjah by Air Blue Flight No. PA-212.

An ANF road check team, during search of a Rawalpindi-bound passenger van near Main Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar, held a drug carrier namely Asif, resident of Peshawar, and recovered 1kg heroin.

In another operation, the ANF Peshawar road check team intercepted a truck near Kohat and recovered 78kg charas concealed in improvised cavities of the truck. An occupant of the truck identified as Zahid Ullah, resident of Orakzai Agency, was also arrested during the interception.

The ANF Karachi held 2 local drug peddlers namely Dolat Khan and Muhammad Asif and recovered 1.35kg charas. Further, an ANF team raided a narcotics den at Tharoo Shah, District Nowshero Feroz and seized 8.4kg charas from the scene.

The ANF Quetta recovered 196kg charas stuffed in secret cavities of a single cabin loader from the area of Kuchlak. However, the person on board managed to flee from the scene taking advantage of the darkness.

All the cases were registered in the respective ANF police stations and further investigation is underway.
