ANF seizes huge quantity of narcotics worth Rs 4.937b in 8 operations

ISLAMABAD: The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF), during its operations in Islamabad, Attock, Jhelum, Vehari, Karak, Peshawar and Qilla Abdullah, recovered 8.198 tons of drugs, comprising 8.190 ton of hashish, 2 kilograms of heroin, 3.255 kilograms of amphetamine and 2 kilograms of opium.  During these operations, the ANF arrested 10 drug traffickers and impounded two vehicles. The worth of the seized drugs is Rs 4.937 billion in international market.

According to details, ANF Quetta while carrying out successful intelligence led operation, seized 8.165 tons of hashish. The drug consignment was concealed at un-inhabited site located in mountainous area near Mezai Ada, district Qilla Abdullah. As per initial reports, the drug consignment was kept at a cache site. ANF Rawalpindi arrested a local drug peddler and recovered 600 gram heroin from his possession. He was arrested near Shell Petrol Pump, Mandi More, Islamabad.

In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested a local drug supplier and recovered 1.2 kilograms of hashishand 400 gram of heroin from his possession. He was arrested near Ziarat Kalu Baba, Mansar, GT Road, Attock. Yet in another operation, ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Suzuki Bolan at Turki Toll Plaza, GT Road, Jhelum and recovered 2 kilograms of  opium and 13 kilograms of hashish during search of the vehicle andarrested twodrug traffickers at the spot.

In forth operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested a local drug supplier at Ghorsheen, Hassan Abdal, Attock alongwith recovery of 1 kilograms of heroin. ANF Lahore recovered 8 kilograms of hashish from personal possession of a local drug supplier Muhammad Zubair who is a resident Vehari, was arrested near Chaudhary Bakers, Burewala, Vehari.

ANF Peshawar airport team arrested Inayat Ullah and Amir Zaman Khan residents of Charsadda at Peshawar airport and recovered 3.255 kilograms of amphetamine from their trolley bags. They intended to travel for Jeddah by Shaheen Airline Flight No. NL-721.  In another operation, ANF Peshawar intercepted a Toyota Corolla car at Indus Highway, Karak and recovered 3.6 kilograms of hashish concealed in it. Two persons on board namely Haji Muhammad resident Wazirstan Agency and Muhammad Sadiq resident of Bannu were also arrested during the operation. All cases have been registered at ANF police stations and further investigations are underway.
