ANF sizes heroin worth Rs 1.3m at KICT, arrests four suspects

KARACHI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered a huge quantity of heroin in a raid at Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT) and arrested four suspects involved in the incident.

According to the details, an ANF team deputed at the sea port examined thousands of containers and managed to recover 12 kilograms of heroin from a container at KICT.

The heroin was tactfully concealed in wooden frames of 3X beds being exported to the foreign country. The source informed that the heroin was hidden in furniture.

Acting rapidly the ANF officers arrested two accused. During the investigation, it was revealed that the main suspecct was in Punjab. The officers contacted the ANF Punjab which with the help of intelligence officers conducted successful raids in Faisalabad and Gojra and apprehended two more accused including the mastermind, the source added.

A case has been registered against all the arrested culprits and further investigations are under progress. The value of the heroin in the international market is worth Rs 1.3 million and was being sent in a legitimate cargo.

The source at the KICT informed that after the raid the security has been beefed up and all the cargo are been examined and monitored very efficiently to avoid such heinous crime in the upcoming future.
