Addressing the conference, Director-General ANF Maj-Gen Musarrat Nawaz Malik directed his subordinates to do everything possible to apprehend those involved in distribution of drugs to students.

The conference was attended by commanders of all ANF Regional Directorates.

Expressing satisfaction over ANF’s overall performance, the DG appreciated progress on counter-narcotics operations, international commitments, drug prevention and public awareness programmes and treatment of drug addicts at ANF-run centers.

The current domestic drug situation and increase in the use of synthetic drugs was also analysed.

Stressing the need for thoroughly screening all passengers on international flights, Maj-Gen Malik directed the ANF personnel to strictly deal with major narcotics smugglers.

He also directed ANF officers to take strict action against absconders and proclaimed offenders in drug-related offences, and emphasised the need for taking proactive and innovative measures to curb drug trafficking and depleting sources of drug supply.

Moreover, aspects relating to enforcement, intelligence, asset investigation, prosecution, mass awareness, finance, administration and infrastructure development were also discussed at the conference.
