Moscow: For kids who have been deprived of parental care, Sberbank launched a special deposit “Social”. The deposit can be opened in the name of the child at Sberbank branches by his/her legal representative: a guardian/carer/social services employee.
To do this he/she should provide the document issued by the social services agency regarding the establishment of guardianship, care, or accommodation of the child at social services facility. A minimum of 1 rouble can be credited to a “Social” deposit for a term of 3 years. The deposit has an annual interest rate of 9.15%. Accrued interest can be withdrawn from the deposit at any time. Deposit funds can be spent, but a minimum balance of 1 rouble must be maintained.
Natalia Alymova, Director of Sberbank’s Non-Transaction Retail Product Department, said, “Supporting disadvantaged social groups is an important part of Sberbank’s activities. The bank recognises its responsibility to clients and partners for carrying out social projects, including by offering special products that meet the needs of such clients.”
