APM Hafeez Shaikh holds meeting with WB president

WASHINGTON D.C: Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Abdul Hafeez Shaikh held a meeting with President of Asian Development Bank Takehiko Nakao  and Hartwig Schafer, Vice President South Asia Region (SAR), World Bank during annual meetings of IMF/WB-2019 in Washington DC.

Sources said that during the meeting Abdul Hafeez Shaikh pointed out positive points on economic front by reducing trade deficit, curtailing budget deficit and picking up of economic activities.

Sources said Abdul Hafeez Shaikh will also hold important discussions with the IMF and WB officials on the sidelines of the annual meetings. The finance adviser is likely to return to Pakistan on Sunday.

The next IMF review is scheduled to take place by end of the ongoing month but the IMF side is still indecisive about the venue of the proposed review meeting. Although, Pakistani authorities insist that the IMF review mission would visit Islamabad by end of the ongoing month, but the IMF had not yet granted security clearance to its staff for visiting Islamabad.
